Caribbean Modern

Caribbean Modern… so it’s finally here.

I’ve been busy, so busy that I haven’t been able to post any blogs up for a few months… but I’m going to make up for that. Starting with this:

If you’ve been paying any attention to my social media you’ll know that I was able to have 2 books both launch on the 4th of June.  I couldn’t decide which to talk about first as I’m proud of both of them, so I decided to start with the one that started for me first.  And that was Caribbean Modern, known back then by other names, but always written by the fantastic, glorious Shivi Ramoutar. (I knew I liked Shivi a lot when she arrived to our first meeting with cake!)

I don’t know what to say about Caribbean Modern except well, everything! For starters, I finally learnt how to spell Caribbean! (not 2 r’s)

We shot the book over a few weeks, and I’m glad that it wasn’t compressed any more than that as I did actually eat everything I shot and probably would have put on a few more pounds.  It was all fantastic and I learned a thing or 2 about Calypso cooking.

I quickly learnt that there was more to Caribbean food than JERK.  It was varied, full of flavour, tasty as hell and just really good.  My assistant would agree with you.  She’ll remain nameless but almost managed to put away a whole meringue pie!

I’ve already purchased 10 copies of this book, and can see myself buying a few more.  A couple of my friends have requested it in place of future gifts.

Have a look at the photos below.  If you want a recipe or 2, don’t message or email me, go and buy a copy!
